I am proud and overjoyed to announce the very first sponsorship for Jazz Con Class Radio. Tom Lord’s Discography has agreed and will officially sponsor the 4-hour “Saturday Jazz Show,” which airs three times a day, on each and every Saturday. It’s an overwhelming satisfaction to be collaborating alongside Tom Lord. I had never seriously considered asking for anyone’s sponsorship before, unless and only if the “product” featured had a direct impact on further improving the recognition and the appreciation of Jazz Music around the world. Well in this particular case, it’s what they call a “No-Brainer!” My so-called “pitch” of the sponsorship to Mr. Lord was rather “unorthodox” and startled Mr. Lord at first, but thankfully not enough to steer him away from agreeing to the sponsorship. Within a week of careful review he agreed to the unity of both his Jazz Discography community with the Jazz Con Class Radio community.

Tom Lord’s Jazz Discography was first published in printed form from 1992 to 2001 until the “Volumes” became available on CD-ROM Version. You can now “subscribe online” and where you will “always” have access to the latest and most complete information. The online subscription method is split up into 2 separate preferences, the Single-User and the Multi-User versions. These subscriptions cover the whole spectrum of Jazz worshipers, from the personal collection to Universities, to Libraries, and Record Companies.

The information posted here serves as an introduction for those Jazz Con Class Radio listeners who simply were not aware of Tom Lord’s Discography and also for the listeners that have been searching and/or researching for the most reliable, most comprehensive and most trustworthy Jazz Discography. Tom Lord’s extraordinary effort demands a great deal of responsibility as well, because it not only benefits Jazz collectors and Jazz historians but preserves “History” itself! Many seem to overlook the continuous updating of “all” Jazz recordings, past and present. For example, let’s say there are recording sessions that were privately held back and are now accessible to the public. What about when you have a multi-CD “Box Set” release and as a collection of tunes from one particular artist or band? What about corrections, additional information that must be added? Those are just a few unnoticed instances, there are many more. Let’s not forget, of course, all the incredible amount of Jazz music released every single day from contemporary Jazz musicians, they must all be updated the same. Tom Lord’s Jazz Discography is the “Perfect” Sponsorship for Jazz Con Class Radio. Make your way over to LordDisco.com and learn more.

"Best Jazz Radio Station I ever heard. I play Jazz trumpet and I learn a lot from you Every day. Thank you and best wishes for you from Hamburg-Germany."

"I appreciate Jazz Con Class Radio because I love bop, hard bop, and related jazz forms. I especially appreciate Jazz Con Class because of the great range of musicians and cuts that are played. Although I like to hear Miles Davis play So What and John Coltrane play My Favorite Things, familiar cuts like these are heard too often on other jazz stations. Unlike other jazz stations, Jazz Con Class Radio frequently surprises me with great music that is not so familiar to me. I love it. And I also love the absence of commercial interruptions.

Although I am not a musician or an authority on music, I teach a Bop seminar for first-year students at the University of California at Davis. In addition to hearing the music, the students learn about the musicians and urban culture in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I often play Jazz Con Class Radio at the start and end of class meetings. The music is a wonderful gift. The station is also a wonderful gift."
