“Jazz In Silhouette” adds another element

Facebook

When I started Jazz Con Class Radio almost 10 years ago my initial goal was to broadcast the best quality Jazz possible, 24/7 and 365 days a year. Personally, I feel that throughout the years the constant addition of historical Jazz recordings have helped me inch closer to this goal. Now I’m on a steep uphill road and its not easy, the listeners that tune in are very knowledgeable and have a higher expectation than the “casual” Jazz fan. I know this first hand from the correspondence that I have received throughout the years, they are very specific and very detailed when they acknowledge their approval towards the “kind or “type” of Jazz music I broadcast on the station. Its very satisfying for me to hear all this appreciation from the audience and would be as well to any other radio broadcaster. After all, its an acceptance, I must be doing something right and I should feel very gratified. That’s great news, I am very proud of myself but to a very low degree. I’m definitely not “content” that’s for sure. Do you know the definition of content? Its “being in a state peaceful happiness.” No, no, I’m not there yet, that’s for sure! I actually just veered off a long “bumpy” road (almost 10 years) that I needed to travel on before entering that “steep uphill” climb that I mentioned before. Now I need to make some adjustments, I need to add some “traction” to Jazz Con Class Radio, I need to add another “element.” Yes, that’s what I call it, its like an extra gear so I could maneuver my way up, an extra step forward in order to further “entertain” the listeners. So that brings me to the subject matter here and its about the addition of the “Jazz in Silhouette” Show Page. With the help of Agustin Riestra and his versatile Jazz shows, I decided to add a new link/page which will contain an “archive”of all his presentations. Here’s an excerpt/introduction from this new page with a direct link:

“Welcome to the Jazz in Silhouette Show Page! It is a collection of all the Jazz shows that have broadcasted on Jazz Con Class Radio and were specifically tailored made by Agustin Riestra. Each show is very unique from the other in many ways but will also contain a certain feel to it, lets say, a certain theme. Agustin’s spectrum of Jazz music has a very wide range, so you will also hear an array of Jazz tunes from all the eras in his broadcast, all the shows are very unique from each other! Agustin also devotes more than.”go directly to the Link

"As a college English and Fine Arts professor, I have spent many long days and nights grading and writing papers with your station as my soundtrack. I can't thank you enough for the perfect score for such work, which I've been leaning on for the last four years. I've always been obsessed with jazz, but like many fans, I'm selective and looking to avoid the obvious. Jazz Con Class hits all the right notes, and while I love to hear my favorites (Bird, Trane, Monk, Morgan, Hubbard, Blakey), the variety of deep cuts is what brings me back. Thank you for the thoughtful intent and love for this music that shines through in every playlist."

"Wonderful station! Thank you so much Jose! Great selection of wonderful jazz, all the way from New Orleans to hard bop and the funky stuff. Musician and jazz fan for more than 30 years, and I am discovering new tunes and artists all the time here at Jazz Con Class. Saved straight to my favorites!" "Since I discovered this station by chance I listen most every day. The music is eclectic and covers the wide spectrum of Jazz from New Orleans style through the Avant Garde to solid fusion. I was a jazz programmer for 12 years and I have to admit that on this station I have heard recordings by band leaders such as, Charlie Mingus, Joe Zawinul, Donald Byrd, Duke Ellington, Abbey Lincoln, Charlie Hayden, Art Blakey, Billie Holiday, Chick Corea and many other pressings that I did not know existed. The station has been an education to me. i thought I knew it all, but I'm now humbled by the quality, width and depth of the programing. This is an excellent site for beginners and old fogies like me. Thank you Jose!"
