I want to wish ALL the Jazz Con Class Radio listeners a Happy New Year from the bottom of my heart! 2018 was a very good year, the listenership increased considerably and most importantly, in a global manner. What many people don’t understand is that Jazz is appreciateted around the world. Actually, outside of the USA, it is loved and respected by a younger crowd. We’re in an age where the most “popular” so called “music” selling in America is “manufactured” by electronical sound effects. It’s shameful how the music industry has stooped so low to make a big buck. How can they even call it “music” when the ones making it are not musicians? Its incriminating and we all know whats going on (money) but with that said, we are also in the age where we have the opportunity and access to enjoy all types of high quality music that is composed and performed by musicians and with musical instruments. Jazz is all about musicianship, creativity and long, long hours of practice. Those who listen to Jazz respect this to the fullest and value these world class musicians with great passion. Unfortunately, Jazz is very intimate and not so simple to spread around to others. Although it’s not so complicated, the first time listeners need to be educated with a short historical introduction and a quick explanation on the concept of “improvisation.” Some people take longer than others to get a good grasp on it but when they do, it becomes a revelation. I’ve found that the younger crowd has a bit more trouble catching on, my guess is their lack of understanding the “Blues” in general. Jazz Con Class Radio is here for everyone, young and old, broadcasting 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. Jazz represents the highest musical form of expression and once you “get it,” your life will change for the better and in all aspects. Some say and I completely agree, Jazz is life, all the ups and downs, all the emotional highs and lows, its straight from the heart. Jazz is the ultimate expression of “Freedom”, get a real doze of it, listen and live! Happy New Year and thanks for keeping Jazz ALIVE!

"Enjoy, very much, listening to your arrangements. My wife and I have two sons (14 & 11) who think Jazz is 'Dad's elevator music'. However, while we were watching 'High Society' Bing Crosby was leading the band in 'Now you has Jazz', while slowly adding each instrument. Finally, of course, the whole number was really rolling with Louis Armstrong leading the way! My youngest son, Joseph, said 'Dad, play that once more.' My wife smiled at me and I knew this wonderful, American art form was getting through to them.
Keep going, Jose. Jazz Con Class Radio is fabulous!"

"I appreciate Jazz Con Class Radio because I love bop, hard bop, and related jazz forms. I especially appreciate Jazz Con Class because of the great range of musicians and cuts that are played. Although I like to hear Miles Davis play So What and John Coltrane play My Favorite Things, familiar cuts like these are heard too often on other jazz stations. Unlike other jazz stations, Jazz Con Class Radio frequently surprises me with great music that is not so familiar to me. I love it. And I also love the absence of commercial interruptions.

Although I am not a musician or an authority on music, I teach a Bop seminar for first-year students at the University of California at Davis. In addition to hearing the music, the students learn about the musicians and urban culture in the 40s, 50s, and 60s. I often play Jazz Con Class Radio at the start and end of class meetings. The music is a wonderful gift. The station is also a wonderful gift."

"Wonderful station! Thank you so much Jose! Great selection of wonderful jazz, all the way from New Orleans to hard bop and the funky stuff. Musician and jazz fan for more than 30 years, and I am discovering new tunes and artists all the time here at Jazz Con Class. Saved straight to my favorites!"
