Here’s an album that is not spoken about enough and could be considered as one of Monk’s finest. The title of this 1959 album, “5 by Monk by 5” is a very cool shortcut for Five Songs Composed By Monk and Played by a Quintet. Thad Jones (on Cornet) made this album stand alone from the others. About the album:

"I just downloaded this app and it's my first (certainly of many!) evenings with you. The music is great but so is the philosophy of why you created this space and the visual and functional appearance of the space.
Congratulations, I don't think I will ever become tired of visiting you!"

"Hi José Reyes,
I have been listening to your radio broadcasting for some time and I can assure you without a doubt that your jazz program is the best on the entire network. I hope you could keep it for a long time without advertising and maintaining the quality that characterizes you. My girlfriend and I heard you from Basque Country in Spain with great pleasure for our ears and our senses. That's why we congratulate you and thank you!"

"We are very lucky to have Jose and his dedication to play the best of
America's finest and original music. Here's hoping that this obvious
labor of love continues for a very long time. A huge thank you is in
order!"
